You are about to access a copy of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services Sdn Bhd (“PwCAS”)’s report on the Position Review of Port Klang Free Zone Project and Port Klang Free Zone Sdn Bhd dated 3 February 2009 (“the Report”) without the appendices.
As the appendices are voluminous, they will only be made available for public viewing during office hours on Port Klang Authority at Jalan Pelabuhan, 42005 Port Klang for 2 weeks till 10th June, 2009

The release of the "Position Review of Port Klang Free Zone Project and Port Klang Free Zone Sdn. Bhd." (PKFZ Report) is only a small part of the job done. We need now to seriously act on the findings of the report to make sure that the interest of the people are fully protected and that this Government walks the talk.
I have directed Port Klang Authority (PKA) to act on these four fronts.
1. To seek legal recourse for contractual shortcomings or irregularities.
2. To seek professional advice on the restructuring of financial obligations of PKA.
3. To improve and tighten governance issues at management and board levels of PKA.
4. Finally, to further beef up the day to day management of PKFZ to strengthen operations and improve its financial returns.
I have also directed the Chairman of PKA, Dato' Lee Hwa Beng to submit a copy of the report to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
My Ministry is not only committed to have the report released but is also determined to ensure that we seek all possible remedies that are within our jurisdiction. [ongteekeat.net]

Peace Vigil In Unity for the liberty of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
SUARAM, Tenaganita, KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall and Youth 4 Change (Y4C) is organising a vigil that is part of an initiative of coordinated vigils by various groups in Southeast Asia. While we have our vigil for Aung San Suu Kyi in Malaysia, other groups in other countries in Southeast Asia will also be having vigils at the same time!
Please come with your friends to show solidarity for Aung San Suu Kyi - one of the greatest leader of peaceful resistance against oppression of our time - and the oppressed people of Burma.
You can also make your own posters and/or banners that shout of support for Aung San Suu Kyi and the people of Burma. Spread the word!

Background
On 6 May 2009, John Yettaw swam across a lake and spent the night at Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s house. He was asked to leave but had refused to do so. Subsequently, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested on 13 May 2009 for violating the
restrictions of her house arrest. She now faces charges that could put her into jail for three to five years, just when her house arrest of nearly two decades was set to expire at the end of May 2009.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is a Nobel Peace Prize (1991) laureate who has been placed under house arrest for nearly two decades. The house arrest was set to expire at the end of this month, May 2009, but recent new charges* against her seem designed to deliberately prolong her detention. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi does not deserve this. Her democratic party had won the 1990 Burmese general elections decisively, but they were not allowed to take office and she was placed under house arrest instead.
Many of us across South-East Asia admire her sacrifice, courage and persistence for peace. We will come together on her last day of detention to honour Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and press for her freedom. The 63-year-old has spent almost two decades under house arrest, much of it in isolation from friends and relatives.

霹靂州第一場燭光會於週日（5月24日）晚上在行動黨和豐竹芭支部舉行，民聯議員在200人點燃白蠟燭後上台致詞逾5分鐘，大批警員就聞訊到來，現場陷入緊張氣氛。最後，燭光會在和平的情況下提早結束，警方也沒有逮捕任何人。

Respect People’s Constitutional Rights!
Suaram strongly condemns the police arrests of eleven (11) people in a peaceful candlelight vigil to mourn the death of democracy of Perak crisis outside the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Member of Parliament Teresa Kok’s office on 19 May 2009. Among those arrested were Teo Nie Ching (Serdang Member of Parliament), Jenice Lee (Teratai state assemblyperson) and 9 party workers.
The arrest has once again demonstrated the high-handedness of the police force in handling peaceful assemblies. These arrests sum up to a total of 130 arrests (142 individuals, as Teo Nie Ching, Jenice Lee and Suara Keadilan Chinese edition editor Law Teck Hao arrested twice) in the past two weeks – an alarming number which points to the fact that the police had reacted in an unjustifiable manner.
Recent events clearly demonstrate the government’s growing repression against public dissent, especially in light of the political developments in Perak. The arrests are a clear form of intimidation by the BN government, with the connivance of the police, to silence the public’s discontentment in the civil disobedience movement that was initiated by Wong Chin Huat’s call for all Malaysians to wear black to mourn the “death of democracy” in Perak.
Furthermore, the way the police made the arrests is in itself a blatant abuse of power, unprofessional and an excessive show of the force by the police, especially since in most cases the public had agreed to cooperate with the police. Clearly, the police has gone beyond their powers in the arrests which were made in bad faith.
The arrests and the detention of these inviduals raise further doubts on the impartiality of the police whether the police force is now being ‘used’ by the certain quarters for their own political agenda. The police credibility is once again put in test. The unprofessional treatment and abuse of powers by the police in the recent arrests of the public, activists and also lawyers only further reveal the urgent need for the establishing the IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission). Only in that way, the new Prime Minister and the police force will regain the public confidence in them.
The police are a public service unit responsible to protect the rights and dignity of the people. The UN Code of Conduct for Law Enforcement Officials stipulates that law enforcement officials must maintain and uphold the human rights of all person and Article 5 of the UN Code also spells out that no law enforcement official may inflict, instigate or tolerate any act of torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment or invoke superior orders or exceptional circumstances, such as a threat to national security, to justify these actions. The police therefore must not be seen acting in contrary to the rights as continued act of aggression and abuse of power will only lead the public to lose confidence in this crucial public service. The police are accountable to the people and not politicians or certain political parties. We urge the government and the police to stop all forms of intimidation against the public and respect the freedom of assembly and freedom of expression of the people immediately!
